Most of what you copy
is junk. Some of it isn't.

The snippets you copy and the quick notes you jot are mostly disposable — useful for an hour, forgotten by tomorrow. But every so often one turns out to matter. Junk Yard catches every scrap as you go, lets the junk clear itself on a timer, and keeps the rest around long enough that when you think “wait — I copied that earlier,” it's one click from being back on your clipboard. Pin the keepers before they clear. It all stays on your Mac.

Why it's a board for junk.

Be honest about it: most of what passes through your clipboard is junk within a day or two. Junk Yard is built around that truth — so the throwaway stuff throws itself away, and the handful of scraps worth keeping don't get lost with it.

It all piles up — on its own

Every copy and every quick note lands on the board automatically. You never have to decide in the moment whether a scrap is worth keeping — just keep working.

The junk clears itself

Each scrap counts down and tidies itself away on a timer you set — five minutes to a couple of days — so the board stays a scratchpad, never a graveyard.

The good bits come back

Reach for something you copied an hour ago and it's still there. Click it to drop it straight back on your clipboard, ready to paste — and pin the real keepers before they clear.

Everything it does.

A scratchpad that keeps the junk out of your way and the good bits within reach.

Catches every scrap

Text, images, files and links land on the board automatically as you copy them — nothing to set up.

Reuse any past copy

Your clipboard only remembers the last thing. Junk Yard keeps the last many — click any scrap to put it back on the clipboard, ready to paste again.

Rich quick notes

Jot a note with headings, bullets, links and images you can resize and crop right in the app.

Edge curtain

Flick your pointer to the edge of the screen for a slide-out strip of your most recent scraps.

Pin or let it clear

Pin a scrap for up to four weeks to keep it at the top; everything else clears itself on a timer you choose.

Stays on your Mac

No account, no sync, no network. Passwords from your password manager are never captured.

A closer look

Each surface has one job — here's what each one is for.

The board

Copies and notes, side by side as scraps

Two kinds of scrap live on one board: the ones that arrive automatically from your clipboard — copied text, images, files, links, even code — and the notes you create by hand. A source chip on each tells you where it came from. Click any scrap to drop it back on your clipboard, ready to paste again.

Your clipboard only remembers the last thing you copied; the board remembers the last many, so an hour-old copy is one click from being reusable. Each scrap shows when it was added and how long until it clears, with a kind icon so you can tell text from an image from a file at a glance. Files and folders show their Finder icon and full path; images show a thumbnail you can open full-size; pinned scraps stay put. Make a quick note — plain text, a picture, a file, or text and a picture together — and it sits right alongside the things you copied. Search and scroll through everything; the newest scraps sit at the top.

The curtain

Recent scraps, one flick away

Move your pointer to the top or right edge of the screen and a translucent curtain of your most recent scraps slides in — no window to find, no shortcut to remember.

Hover a scrap to zoom it Dock-style; click to copy it back; tap the eye to open a full preview. A fixed “+ New note” button is always within reach at the edge of the bar. The curtain rolls away the moment you move on, so it's there when you want it and gone when you don't.

Rich notes

Jot a real note, not just plain text

Write notes with headings, bold, italics, bullet and numbered lists, and links — then drop in images you can resize, rotate, crop and adjust right in the app.

Editing a scrap saves it as a new scrap and copies it to the clipboard, so the original is never lost. Insert an image and select it to scale it Small / Medium / Large / Fit, or open it in the built-in editor to rotate, flip, crop and tune brightness and contrast. Every note is rich text that travels with its formatting when you paste it elsewhere.

Pin & auto-clear

Keep the keepers, clear the rest

Pin a scrap for one to four weeks and it sticks to the top, immune to the timer. Everything else clears itself after the window you choose — from five minutes to a couple of days.

The board stays useful instead of becoming a junk drawer: the things you reach for repeatedly stay pinned and within reach, while one-off snippets quietly age out. Set the auto-clear window and the maximum number of scraps to keep, and Junk Yard does the housekeeping for you.
