My Drive now works with just Storage Studio: use storage you already own — Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, Wasabi, DigitalOcean Spaces and other S3-compatible storage — with a trial or licence and nothing else to buy. Open the Delta Drive tab, choose Use storage you own, confirm your email with a code, and connect your bucket; it opens in a browser too. If your trial or licence ends, My Drive pauses rather than disappearing, and nothing in your storage is touched. Sharing now works on storage you own too, and if you buy Delta Drive later you can move My Drive to Delta Drive with everything kept. We email you whenever another Mac is added. Moving, trashing and creating folders from your Mac on storage you own now acts on the right drive. Shares made in the browser while looking at storage you own, which previously couldn’t be opened, now work. Carries everything from 4.18.0.

Beta. Fixes for things that quietly stopped working on a long-running Mac: the Junk Yard side panel opened and vanished before you could reach it; the Junk Yard stopped taking clipboard copies whenever the Mac got briefly busy, and lost what you copied during the pause; and Apps showed "Loading your apps…" every time you opened it more than five minutes after launch. Repeated transfers are now grouped instead of one identical row per scheduled run. Moving folders clears the empty folders left at the source — only genuinely empty ones, never the folder you moved from. Releasing space your Mac is holding now shows you what it would release before you commit. Carries everything from 4.17.0. Universal, notarized by Apple.

Delta X: Delta Trust for your backups, Delta Drive for your working files, and My Drive when you would rather those sat on storage you already own. Point the drive at your own S3-compatible bucket; we write under one prefix and touch nothing else. The two working drives share nothing, so switching copies no data and loses nothing. Fixed: a switched-off drive no longer serves files, backing up no longer reads 100% with days left, and paste works in every text field.

A Junk Yard preview can no longer be dragged off the edge of the screen. Move one far enough and part of it went past the edge and stayed there — text cut off down the side — and if you dragged far enough the bar you grab it by went with it, leaving no way to pull it back. It now stops with enough of itself on screen to grab, and the note and image editor are fixed the same way. The Connected devices panel also gains a single Sharing switch: turn it off and nothing leaves your Mac, while your devices stay connected so turning it back on is instant — nothing you have set up is lost. Connect and Disconnect now look like buttons rather than plain text. Under the surface, pausing is now per device: it used to be all-or-nothing, so pausing one device quietly stopped folder access, file transfers, clipboard and sync for every connected device. Carries everything from 4.16.10, plus one piece of groundwork finished. 4.16.10 added the ability to switch on a relay — for devices that cannot reach each other directly, which some mobile networks will not allow — but only Storage Studio itself could be told where that relay is. Storage Studio Bridge, on your PC or second Mac, had no way to find out, and a relay only one side knows about does not connect anybody. It now learns it as part of a check it already makes. A relay never sees your files; everything through it stays encrypted end to end. From 4.16.10: paired devices come back faster after you change network — they used to sit on "Connecting…" for up to 40 seconds after a Wi-Fi switch. Beta - backup control and honesty. Stop now actually stops a run (a verify was uncancellable by construction, and Stop had no escalation when the engine ignored the polite signal). A backup interrupted by a quit or crash no longer claims to be running for ever with no way to stop it. A cloud destination can be removed without deleting the versions stored there. Automatic cloud backups measure real upload speed to the real destination first and defer politely when it is hopeless - manual backups are never blocked. Also includes the duplicate-scan honesty work: Include small files, auto-scan freshness, the performance gate, and an explanation of what was actually compared.

Getting started can no longer get stuck. If the verification code we email you doesn't arrive — it can land in spam, or be delayed, or be blocked entirely before it reaches you — the welcome screen now lets you start your trial anyway, and we confirm your email later. Nobody should be locked out of an app they have installed because of a message they never received. Related: if the app ever showed you a

Connecting a cloud account is a nicer, and more reliable, few seconds in this release. When you finish signing in with Google or Dropbox, your browser now lands on a Storage Studio page that simply tells you you're connected — served from your own Mac, never from a website — instead of the bare technical page it used to show. Only one tab opens now, not two, and if a provider refuses the sign-in the same page explains why in plain English and adds nothing. We also fixed a problem that could leave your cloud accounts list looking empty after a sign-in that had actually worked: the account was there the whole time, and it will simply appear once you update — nothing to re-add. Alpha — everything since 4.14.0, consolidated.

WHERE YOUR SPACE ACTUALLY WENT. Storage Studio now measures the areas macOS sets aside for temporary files, which it never used to look at. That matters more than it sounds: an app can quietly leave a very large share of your disk there — on the Mac this was built for, one had accumulated more than a third of the drive in leftover folders over several weeks, and nothing on the machine could see it. Those areas are now measured, attributed to the app responsible, and offered for clearing.

Storage Inspector opens on a real, ranked breakdown of what is using your disk, drillable to any depth, alongside what changed since last time and how old the data your backups are holding is. It says plainly when part of the disk could not be read, rather than presenting a partial total as complete.

EMERGENCY SPACE. When the disk is nearly full, this shows what is using it and offers the safest options first — clearing files your apps rebuild by themselves, before it ever suggests moving anything of yours. Tell it how much room you want and it picks the smallest set that gets you there. Nothing happens until you choose, and nothing that removes data is ever ticked for you.

You can open a folder to see inside before agreeing to anything. A clear-up can be stopped at any point: it finishes the item it is on, tells you what was done and what is left, and carries on later rather than starting over. You can see exactly which folders were removed, and everything cleared stays recoverable.

It also explains what most tools leave out — space your Mac is holding in its own automatic backups, which is why deleting files sometimes gives nothing back — and offers to release it.

WHAT IT WILL NOT TOUCH. Folders holding an app's settings, sign-ins or history are never offered; only the parts an app rebuilds by itself. Browser profiles are refused outright. Your Trash is measured and reported but never emptied for you.

DATA PARKING. Folder sizes are real sizes now, measured from the contents rather than the folder's own record, with sorting by size, name or date. Moves show live progress with an honest estimate, leave a link behind so your apps keep working, and can be undone while the drive is connected.

THE RECYCLE VAULT. It now says where it is — your removed files live on your external drive; this Mac keeps only the list, plus anything still waiting for the drive to be reconnected. Permanently deleting a large selection no longer freezes the window, and shows how far along it is.

QUIT AND RESTART REALLY DO STOP EVERYTHING, including background helpers that used to keep running after the app had closed, and only one copy of Storage Studio can run at a time.

It now notices when your Mac stops honouring a permission you previously granted, and offers to sort it out at the moment something is refused rather than only on first launch.

FIXED. A rare case where relocating an already-relocated folder could overwrite it. An all-time "space reclaimed" figure that counted some space more than once and could never go down; it is now measured from what is actually on your drive and falls when you move something back. Two buttons that named an action they did not perform. And the install window is branded again.

Two things in this release. First, Demo Mode: turn it on in Settings and Storage Studio shows stand-in names, folders, accounts and devices instead of yours, so you can record a demo or a help video from your own Mac without any of your personal information appearing in it. Everything still looks full and behaves normally — nothing is really moved, removed or emptied while it's on, and background tidying pauses — and a badge plus a changed menu-bar icon make it obvious it's running, so a recording session can't quietly end with it still on. There's also a leak check that looks through everything it has prepared, including what an AI assistant could read, and tells you plainly whether it's safe to record. Second, your fast drive now carries Storage Studio's own working files. A backup keeps a large working cache, which had quietly grown to several gigabytes on the internal disk; it now lives on your fast drive when that's connected, moves across when you reconnect, and only a small, capped amount is ever held on your Mac in between. Several logs that could grow without limit are capped too. We also fixed a backup that could get stuck if you ejected your drive mid-run, and a case where the Recycle Vault could quietly stop holding removed files when your Mac was low on space — sending them to the Trash instead and losing the six-month recovery window. Your files, your backups and your passphrase are untouched, and every change stays reversible. Universal build, notarized by Apple.

"Restart & install" now installs. If you pressed it on 4.13.4 or 4.13.5, the update had downloaded and verified correctly and the button was live — but pressing it closed the notification and left you exactly where you were, because the app was asking itself to quit in a way that could never complete. It now quits and reopens on the new version, in about a second. If this happened to you, quitting Storage Studio yourself and opening it again will land you on the version that was waiting. We also made it impossible for this to fail quietly again: every reason an update can be refused — the app isn't in your Applications folder, the downloaded file went missing or no longer matches, Apple's security check didn't pass — now appears as a notification with the actual reason, where before it was recorded and shown nowhere. And if the app ever doesn't shut down, the installer now stops and changes nothing rather than replacing the app underneath itself, leaving the update ready to try again. The safety chain around updating is unchanged: the download is verified by checksum, re-verified immediately before installing, checked against Apple's notarization, and your files, settings and licence are untouched. Finding duplicate files in your cloud accounts now actually works. Before this, any connected account with more than a couple of hundred files came back empty — and told you your provider didn't publish file fingerprints, which was never the real reason. On a large Google Drive it now finds thousands of duplicate sets and tens of gigabytes you can reclaim. You can also remove them, not just look at them: clear one copy, keep the best copy of a set, or clean a whole account — and we tell you plainly whether it can be undone, because on Google Drive and Dropbox removed copies go to that service's own Trash, while on S3 and FTP there is no Trash and removal is permanent. Those always ask first, and one copy is always kept. Each account is checked on its own now, results appear as they are found rather than all at the end, and the automatic check tells you what it is waiting for instead of sitting silent. The Junk Yard preview is also readable at last — pinch to zoom, drag to pan, or fill the screen. Nothing is ever downloaded to compare files, and online-only files stay online-only. This release is about two things we care about more than features: never losing a file, and never getting in your way. Everywhere Storage Studio removes an original after moving or archiving it, it now proves the new copy is complete — comparing the actual contents, not just counts and sizes — before anything goes, and it keeps the original if the check doesn't pass. Anything the scheduled clean-up removes for you now goes to the Trash of the drive it came from, so it stays recoverable. Background work has been made genuinely lazy: scans, backups, and transfers yield the disk to whatever you're doing, an 8 GB Mac is no longer stuck in a reduced mode, and Low Power Mode stays fully usable. We also fixed a backup that could be reported as verified when its check had actually failed — if you use Data Backup, that's the reason to update — along with faster launch, a photo-editor crash on macOS Monterey, and more thorough redaction of file names in crash reports and the on-device assistant. This release makes Data Backup rock-solid and polishes a few things you'll notice every day. If a backup ever says the passphrase didn't match, you can re-enter it right there — Storage Studio checks it on the spot, tells you immediately if it isn't right, and once confirmed it sticks and reconnects to all your existing versions without deleting a thing. A backup that's already been saved is never mistaken for a passphrase problem again, and because a first cloud backup uploads your files as many small encrypted pieces, it now shows a clear note so a slow-but-working upload never looks stuck. Your "Storage over time" charts also stay visible in the app's lighter, low-impact mode instead of hiding behind a "charts paused" note — and you can now see the app version at a glance in the top bar. As always, your files stay yours, nothing is deleted to move it, and every change is reversible. Universal build, notarized by Apple.

A clearer name and behind-the-scenes polish. The Home card that opens your apps is now called "Manage Apps" (it was "Big Apps") — move apps to your external drive, offload the ones you rarely use, or uninstall them, all to free space. This release also brings quiet improvements to how we support you and keep your trial and licence details accurate. Support, right inside Storage Studio. Ask Tuhi to "contact support" (or use Help & Support → Contact Support) and she opens a ticket for you — pre-filled and fully editable, so you choose exactly what to share; nothing is sent until you tap Send. Track every ticket under My Support: read the conversation, reply, close or reopen it, get notified when support replies, and rate your experience. When you describe a problem Tuhi can't fix — or a background task keeps failing — she offers to open a ticket with the details. Tuhi also got sharper about the app's own features and about your own storage. Your files stay yours, anything shared needs your consent, and every change is reversible. Data Backup browsing — fixes and polish. Opening a version's files now works reliably: browse the files inside any backup, then restore or export just the ones you pick to any location, with a live progress bar, speed, time remaining and Cancel.
