Activate your license
Storage Studio uses Stripe for all payments. You don't enter card details into the app itself, and you don't enter any payment reference either. Instead, the server emails you a License Code right after you pay.
How the License Code keeps things simple
When your checkout succeeds, our server generates a 16-character code, links it to your licence, and emails it to you. All you ever need to activate is that code and your email — nothing sensitive about your payment ever ends up on your clipboard, in a screenshot, or in a support ticket.
Where to find your License Code
Check the email Storage Studio sent right after checkout:
Subject: Your Storage Studio activation code
The body contains a 16-character code in a copy-friendly box. Triple- click to select the whole thing.
If you can't find the email, check spam / promotions tabs, then contact support@storagestudio.us — we can re-send it.
Where to paste it
Storage Studio → Preferences → License, or the paywall after your trial ends.
Enter:
- Your purchaser email address (the one Stripe billed)
- The 16-character License Code
The app checks the code with our server, unlocks your licence, and remembers it on this Mac. From then on Storage Studio works offline for up to 14 days at a time.
Activate in one tap — straight from your email
You don't have to copy the code at all. Every licence and offer email now has an "Activate Storage Studio" button. Click it and the app activates itself:
- If Storage Studio is already open, it comes to the front and
activates on the spot.
- If it's closed, the button opens it and it activates as it
launches.
- If it isn't installed yet, the button's web page offers the
download first — install Storage Studio, then click the button again.
A short "Activating…" spinner is followed by a "You're all set" confirmation. It's safe: the link is single-use, expires after a short while, and Storage Studio checks it with our server before activating, so nothing happens unless the link is genuine and still valid. If a link has already been used or has expired, the app says so plainly and offers to enter the code by hand instead.
The 16-character code stays in every email that has one, so you can always type it in yourself — handy if you're activating on a different Mac from the one reading your email.
The "You're all set" screen
The confirmation summarises exactly what you got, built from your licence, so the rows match your plan — your plan (or the offer name for a free offer), how long a free period lasts and when it ends, the price you'll continue at afterwards (for a founder offer), your next renewal date (for a subscription), and the account email your licence is registered to.
Reminders before anything changes
Storage Studio reminds you inside the app, in the notification bell, before any change to your plan — so nothing is ever a surprise:
- Free trial ending — about a week before it runs out, with a
clear next step.
- Plan renews soon — a calm heads-up naming the date your card
will be charged automatically. Nothing to do; you can review or cancel any time.
- Founder free period ending — for Inner Circle members, a nudge
to continue at your founder price before your free days end.
These are informational only. Storage Studio never locks you out mid-period, and your settings and moved files are untouched either way.
One license, one Mac
The first time you redeem a License Code on a Mac, the server hard- binds the code to that machine. Trying to activate the same code on a different Mac fails with "This code is already activated on a different Mac."
If you need to move it — new laptop, hardware swap, reinstall after a clean macOS install — reply to your activation email or contact support@storagestudio.us. We release the lock from the admin panel; the next activation from any Mac re-binds the code to whichever fingerprint redeems it next.
Managing your subscription
Open the Stripe Customer Portal from Preferences → License → Manage in Stripe. Stripe owns billing, receipts, invoices, and cancellation. We don't keep a copy of your card.
Refund policy
Once activated, payments are non-refundable except where mandatory consumer-protection law requires. Please use the 7-day free trial before purchasing. Full details in our Terms of Service §5.5.
