Claim a free offer
When Storage Studio is running a campaign, trial users who haven't previously activated a paid license see a Claim a free offer button on the License pane. The campaign details (duration, type) come from the current campaign, so what's on offer can change over time — what your code grants is locked in at the moment you claim.
Who can claim
The offer button is visible when all of the following are true:
- A campaign is currently running.
- You're on an active free trial (not expired, not converted).
- You've never previously activated any Storage Studio license on
this Mac. The "has ever activated" flag is sticky across the "Remove License" action, so removing a license doesn't reset eligibility.
If you're not eligible, the button simply doesn't appear.
Two kinds of offer
A campaign grants one of:
- Free trial extension — adds days or months to your existing
trial expiry.
- Free subscription window — gives you a free month, three months,
or however long the campaign offers. At the end of the window the app drops to the trial-expired state unless you subscribe.
The claim flow
- Click Claim a free offer on the License pane. A new window
opens with a contact form.
- Fill in: email, full name, profession, optional contact
number, optional business name, country, state / region (where applicable), and an optional "why" note.
- Click Send verification code. We email you a 16-character
verification code to confirm you own the address.
- Paste the code into the form, click Verify & issue code.
- We email your License Code within seconds. Paste it into
Preferences → License → Enter activation code as you would for a paid purchase.
Anti-abuse rules
You can claim one offer per email and one per Mac, ever — this applies even across campaigns. Disposable email providers (mailinator, guerrillamail, 10-minute-mail, etc.) are rejected at the verification step. If you genuinely need to move a claimed offer to a different Mac, contact support@storagestudio.us and we'll release the lock from the admin panel.
What happens if the campaign ends
Once issued, your code stays valid for the duration set when it was issued (typically 90 days to redeem). The campaign itself ending doesn't retroactively change codes already in the wild — the offer terms are snapshotted onto the code at the moment you claim.
Inner Circle (founder) members
If you asked to join the Inner Circle and were approved, your approval email has a one-tap button that takes you straight in to download Storage Studio — no code to copy. The founder offer is a free trial period plus a founder discount (for example the yearly plan at half price), and during the free period there's no licence key to enter or manage: activating from the email link handles it, and the "You're all set" screen shows your free-until date and the founder price you'll continue at.
About a week before your free period ends (the timing is set by us), you'll get an email with a one-click payment link that opens checkout with your founder discount already applied — so you continue at your founder price in a single tap. Everything you've moved keeps working exactly as it is, and your founder price is locked in for good.
